What documents will I be asked to provide?

 

When you submit your application you must provide the correct documents to support your application.

 

You must provide the following documents within 28 days of submitting your form or your application will be cancelled.

 

 It is your responsibility as the applicant to ensure you provide the correct documents to support your application.

 

For the main applicant and any joint applicants being rehoused, we will require:

 

  • 2 pieces of identification. One piece of identification must be photographic

and

  • Proof of current address for the main applicant and any joint applicants

 

Your application will not be assessed until you have uploaded the above documents.

If you fail to provide any documents within 28 days of submitting your form, if they are incomplete, or they are not the correct documents then your application will be cancelled.

 

The following documents will be accepted as proof of ID

  • Passport (current and valid).
  • Permanent residence e.g., Proof of Indefinite Leave to Remain.
  • A biometric ‘residence permit’ card issued by the Home Office.
  • A full birth or adoption certificate issued in the UK.
  • A valid full or provisional photo card UK driving licence.
  • A letter issued by a UK government department or Local Authority, signed by a named official (including their name and professional address), confirming the holder's name.
  • A letter from the DWP clearly showing your National Insurance Number and the benefits you receive from within the last 3 months.
  • Bus pass (current and valid).
  • CitizenCard (UK).
  • MOD payslips or pension statement.
  • Veteran ID card.

The following will be accepted as proof of address – all letters/documents must be dated within the last 3 months

  • Bank statement.
  • Utility bills.
  • Council Tax bill.
  • Payslips with address.
  • Medical letter /report.

 

You may need to provide other documents to support your application. For example:

 

Proof of parental responsibility – you must provide one of the following for any child in the moving household –

  • Proof of child benefit.
  • Letter from the DWP.
  • A letter from a social worker or a solicitor.

 

Proof of pregnancy – if you or anyone named on the application is pregnant, you must provide proof of pregnancy.

This can be any of the following that clearly shows your name and baby’s due date:

  • Screenshot of Badger notes.
  • A photograph of your green book.
  • MAT B1 form issued from the hospital.

 

Proof of local connection – if you do not live in the borough but want to claim a local connection, then you must be able to demonstrate:

  • An immediate family link that lives in the borough. This must be a parent, brother, sister, son or daughter. You must provide a utility bill for the person you have a local connection to. This must be from within the last 3 months. 
  • Employment in the borough. You must provide copies of your last 3 months pay slips (monthly) or 12 weeks if paid weekly.
  • Lived in the borough for 6 months out of the last 12 months, OR 3 years out of the last 5 years
  • Support needs whereby you rely on someone who is a resident of the borough or who relies on you for your support. Proof that you need to give or receive support from someone within the borough.
  • A local connection must be to a parent, brother, sister, son or daughter who live in the Rochdale borough.

 

Priority for Working (including self-employment) and / or Volunteering – if you are in employment or volunteering to receive the additional priority you will need to provide one of the following:

  • 3 months wage slips, or 12 weeks if paid weekly.
  • A tax return.
  • An accountants letter to confirm self-employment.
  • Copy of business accounts.
  • A letter of proof from the charity you volunteer for within the Rochdale borough, which confirms you volunteer for 16 hours or more per month and have done so for 6 out of the last 9 months.

 

Right to Reside

  • You may also be asked to provide evidence of your right to reside in the UK if you are not a British Citizen (for example, passport and other relevant Home Office documentation).

 

Immigration/EU Settlement Status

  • Biometric Residents Permit for the UK (Front and back).
